Move #3 was the least painful of all three moves. We didn't have a deadline to be out by and could move with multiple trips. At first we thought we would go slowly but when it came down to it, we were ready to be in our own space and in our own home. We needed to start getting our family settled. We moved into our house the week school started. We attended church and fell in love with our new ward. We had probably 20 families introduce themselves and want to know about us. The first two weeks in our house we had one or two families/couples/individuals come by every single day with fruit, bread, garden produce, goodies or just words of welcome. We were so impressed! We felt so loved! We have never needed it more.
I remembered why we had to rent a second storage unit last minute for our move two weeks earlier. Marcus had arranged to borrow a 30 ft enclosed trailer to move our main belongings into (like our beds, the last remaining kitchen items, couches, etc). The idea was that we could load it up at the house, park it for two weeks, and then drive it to the new house and unload it. The morning of our move when he went to pick it up, it wasn't ready and wouldn't be ready without some errands which we didn't have time for (it wasn't any one's fault but it was the beginning of a very long and yucky day).
When we were getting ready for moving into our new house Marcus' boss (also the owner of the trailer mentioned above) asked how I was doing. Marcus answered honestly and said I was struggling (*see info at bottom) and his boss gave us money to hire men to move our stuff. It was basically the grunt work, moving boxes. We would have survived and family and ward would have helped but it was a huge deal to us. HUGE. It was a load off of our shoulders. I cried. It is hard to ask for help but even harder when you have already taxed your resources.
When the movers met us at the storage unit and we discovered the black mold (even the movers were super careful with what they were breathing and handling) we didn't fold. I called my mom and she made some calls, learned all about mold, and met us at our new place ready to clean everything they unloaded. By the end of the day everyone was tired but our things were moved in and we weren't afraid that our items would be bringing black mold into our home with a brand new baby and three other small children. If we would have had to move our things in as well, I am not sure that would have been possible.
**I forgot to mention that after I had Paige and we moved into my parents house I developed some sort of infection on my chest. It was very painful to nurse and was spreading. I went to the doctor and he said it was an allergic reaction to nursing cream. They gave me medicine but it did nothing and the rash spread up my neck and down my stomach. Again, super painful nursing. I did some research online and realized it was hives. Because of the stress and hormones from having a baby/nursing I had developed hives and they just kept spreading. I slept with ice packs in my bra and on my neck. When the hives finally settled down I started having problems with infection (beginning of mastitis). I fought this for the next three weeks. Good times. Good times.
