November Weather

The weather has been so great here this month. We have loved loved loved it. Just one of many things I am grateful for this week. (I figure since this winter is sure to bring many complaints of the bitter cold I should at least acknowledge the good:))

Just Like You

Tonight Reagan's dinner job was making toast. She put one piece in the toaster and turned the knob to the highest setting. When I asked her what she was doing she replied, "I want a really burnt piece of toast." What was I thinking?:)

She kept checking the toast but it wasn't dark enough for her (she wasn't patient enough to wait the full amount of time without checking the progress). As I tried to figure out where the "burnt toast" desire was coming from I remembered a conversation she and I had a week or so ago.

I told her about how I liked some things a little burnt. One of my favorite old college roommates and I had this in common. We would cook our popcorn a little long just to have it a little burnt. I asked Reags if she wanted it burnt because I like things burnt. "Yes" she replied with a shy smile. "I want mine burnt too."

Love. It.

And boy was her toast black.

4 months

Will is now four months old. Time is passing waaay too quickly for me. Even though we definitely have our hard days/nights, I still wish I could freeze time and enjoy our lives at this stage a little longer.

4 month stats:
height 27 inches (above 97%)
weight 16.2 pounds (75%)
head 43.5 cm (75%)

He is very healthy and a very ticklish little boy. He giggled all through his exam because of his tickle spots. It was super cute and totally unexpected for the Dr. I think she got a kick out of it.

Will is still a very happy baby. He knows when to flash his smile and wins people over all the time. He is very easy going. It doesn't seem like he is in a hurry to do anything. Just content to go with the flow. He rolled over for the first time this week and loves to play with toys or anything else he can grasp. Reagan has started trying to move him around a little bit, which is terrifying to me. He is still a momma's boy and I still love it. We are so glad to have this little one in our family. It is funny how you can't imagine life any other way even after only 4 months. We love you little Will!

Lines we don't want to forget

At the dinner table:
Mom: What are you doing Ainsley?
Ainsley: I'm feeding my sippy.
As you can tell she was very serious about it. So stinkin funny.

The other night we were sending the girls to bed without a bedtime story because of the time factor and Reagan was upset. She was crying and Marcus said he would read her one the next night. Reagan responded, "but you haven't read a story in multiple nights." I was dying laughing. She was right. We had skipped two or three nights but who knew she could use the word multiple and in the right context! Needless to say, she got a story.

Today Reagan came and asked for a snack earlier in the morning than usual. I told her we would have a snack in a little while. She replied, "Mom, there is no reason to wait when I am hungry right now!" Again, I was dying laughing. Is she almost 4 or 14? After I agreed that she was probably right and she could have a snack a little early I got out some peanuts. She quickly responded, "I don't even want peanuts. I want cashews." Ainsley came running up behind her wanting "cashews too". It just made me smile. I love that my girls will eat healthy food and love it. (We still had peanuts though. Mom has to be in charge SOME of the time!)

Marcus posted a couple of stories on the family website that I am posting here below:

While the sacrament is being passed at church we usually try to look at pictures of Jesus to help the kids understand the importance of the bread and water. One of the pictures showed Jesus being baptized. I pointed to John the Baptist and asked Reagan who this was. She replied, “Bob the Builder". I guess we need to spend more time in the scriptures. (can we baptize him…Yes we can!)

We have been listening to the Sound of Music the last few weeks. The girls spontaneously burst into song multiple times a day. Their favorite is Do a Deer or Do Re Mi, I am not sure of the actual name. Anyway, the other night Reagan was saying the prayer and went to say the prayer and started with," Do a deer..." She started laughing. I think the first time was unintentional, but she does at least once a day now. (She was also discovered cleaning up a mess downstairs while singing "I am sixteen going on seventeen...")

Another funny story, we had our home teachers over last Monday night to give me a blessing before my eye surgery. I told the girls that the home teachers would place their hands on my head and give me a blessing which is like a prayer so they needed to fold their arms and close their eyes. They did great. After the home teachers left, we said our opening prayer for family home evening. As Brit was praying, I head Ainsley scamper to my side, then felt her jump up on the couch, and place both of her hands on my head as if she was giving me a blessing. We had a pretty good laugh.

Girls Weekend in Ohio... finally

It was so refreshing to get together with my girls! Just what the DR ordered. It was oddly comforting to see the same tired circles surrounding their eyes. Although we are spread throughout the country, we are in the same stage of life and have the same desires for our families. Late night talks, constant laughter plus the addition of crazy and adorable kids made this trip unforgettable.

Lauren (the soccer player, violin player, and one of the nicest people you will ever meet)

Laura (the organization queen, also super talented in making things look pretty and getting things done)

Bee -(our fashion girl, amazing style AND class, also incredibly crafty - this girl can turn nothing into gold)

Angie (guitar player, photographer, and fun fun fun this girl is always up for an adventure)

Our kids (all except mine that is)
Bryce, Dallin, Mylie, Brogan

Our version of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants

Lauren said it perfectly:
1.) A good dose of laughter is healthy – I need to do that more often.

2.) Stories are always so much funnier many years later –especially when told from another’s perspective

3.) You can never have too many cooks in the kitchen

4.) There’s something about food and happiness that go together really well

5.) It doesn’t matter if you buy matching clothes if you all live in different states

6.) All kids LOVE and need their mommies

7.) 6 adults + 5 kids in one small house w/one bathroom (and one bathroom plug) works out just fine

8.) 1:00 am talks can be very enlightening

9.) I'm not sure if personality tests are all that accurate:)

10.) I need my girlfriends
It was so much fun to re-live funny stories, discuss our hopes for the future, laugh, cry, and laugh some more with these amazing ladies. My husband is AMAZING for forcing me to go even though the timing wasn't great (will it ever be in the next 5 years?). He said to me, "You have to go, you need this." And. He. Was. Right.

A Proud Momma

Reagan was in charge of setting the table the other night. We were having the missionaries for dinner and celebrating one of the Elder's birthday.

As I was feeding my baby on the couch I watched my daughter carefully tie this ribbon around the birthday glass. So cute! My heart was bursting with pride. She has caught on to birthday celebrations in our home and I LOVE it.

I have to mention that the Elder was also thrilled and asked to take the ribbon home with him.

Halloween 2009

The morning started with these fun pancakes that the girls LOVED.

We had a relaxed day at home trying to help the girls recover from their horrible colds so we could attempt a few doors for trick-or-treating. It is so much fun to see them play together and enjoy each other.

Super Reagan!

Princess Ainsley

My favorite picture of the night.
