CNY 2016 - Shanghai - Day 9 Tuesday

Today we saw Shanghai. We walked quite a bit and rode the metro.  We saw a temple, an Old Navy (What!?), and a Dunkin Donuts (again What?!).  At that point we decided Shanghai living is a bit different than Dongguan.  There were crowds of people everywhere because of the holiday.  For lunch we went to a local place that had soup dumplings.  Unfortunately, they just didn't compare to Din Tai Fung.  Just outside the restaurant there was a fruit stand and we ate Pomelo so everyone was happy. Boy do we love some good pomelo.

We walked to the Shanghai skyline and were mobbed by people.  Seriously mobbed.  People just surrounded us and cameras were clicking, clicking, clicking.  They were especially interested in Marcus and Paige as he was carrying her on his shoulders.  He is so tall and with the curly hair they both sport, we were getting a ton of attention. Heather also has blonde hair and their youngest is very blonde also so you can imagine the affect.  Add in two large American families and it was intense.  Because it was Chinese New Year, there were a ton of tourists and probably a huge crowd of visitors from inside China which was making our situation worse.  We had fun taking pictures of people taking our pictures.  At one point Marcus began to just have fun with it so the crowds intensified.  He said it is either get frustrated or join in, so he joined in.

This picture is the best I had of how close and personal the Chinese people can get.  There is no personal space and they all want to touch Paige

You can tell we let the kids have a turn with the camera.

We also rode the ferry across the harbor and had some dairy queen.

Afterwards we went to the Turner's house and had homemade pizza.  The kids watched a movie and I helped Heather do some dishes from the past two days of fun.  It was a fun day for everyone.
