CNY 2016 - Taipei Taiwan - Day 2 Tuesday

Today our one goal was to meet up with the girls that stayed with us last spring in Utah.  Their English names are Eva and Lisa.  Our kids became pretty attached in the two weeks they were at our home so we were excited to meet up with them.  We told them we would take them to lunch and they could pick the place and take us to it.

The girls were about 1 hour late showing up at our airbnb.  They were very excited to see the kids and to meet Zach.  Eva especially loved holding the baby.  They took us on the Metro and were excellent hosts.  It is a little different traveling with a family and with a stroller.  We went to a nearby shopping center that is well known.

When we arrived (about 1:50) the restaurant was closing for the afternoon until 4pm for dinner.  We were all a little disappointed, and super hungry.  Unfortunately, this was the case at all the restaurants.  We had just missed the serving time for lunch.  The girls decided to take us to the mall cafeteria.  They ordered us their favorite traditional (mall food court) food.  It was interesting.  We really didn't eat much of it.  Will was excited for the oyster omelet... until he tried it.  It was pretty slimy.

We looked around at some of the shops and looked for some shoes for Reagan and Ainsley.  In the end, it was just window shopping.  When we were ready to head home, Lisa gave the kids red envelopes from her parents.  It is tradition during Chinese New Year Holiday for the adults to give kids red envelopes with money in them.  The kids were super excited to get a red envelope.

My kids play "Elf" on the escalators everywhere we go.  Elf behavior is making appearances all over Asia.

It is blurry but it is rare to catch a moment where these two are so happy together

Eva, Lisa, and Bessany accompanied us home.  I think they were worried we wouldn't make it home on our own.  We ended up taking some more pictures and they held the baby one last time.

All in all, it was so fun to see these girls again.  We really did have a great connection with them.  Hopefully we will be able to keep in touch as time goes on and they head off to college.

That was the bulk of our 2nd day in Taiwan.
