Grandma Darrington's Funeral Summer 2012
Not long after Grandkid camp in June, Marcus' grandmother Gladys Darrington passed away. We made the trip to Declo, Idaho for her funeral. We decided to go up the night before and stay in a hotel with cousins and Grandparents. It was so much fun for the kids (and the adults). The funeral was beautifully done. I was impressed with all that was said and laughed several times. I learned a lot about Gladys.
Because she was suffering from severe dementia for most of our marriage I didn't know Marcus' Grandma very well. I do have one memory though. Marcus and I were engaged and traveled to Declo to have Thanksgiving Day with his family. That night I stayed at Gladys' home and Marcus stayed with his Aunt and Uncle down the road. The next morning we were leaving at 5ish to drive to Star Valley and meet up with my family. Marcus came to pick me up and Gladys came out from her room and was not happy. She thought that we had stayed out all night and Marcus was just dropping me off. We assured her that he was picking me up and I had been home all night. We laughed about it on our drive.
It was fun to see/meet family. We didn't take any pictures other than the pool. I was at the very end of my pregnancy and pretty much miserable (not to mention very whale-ish). When we arrived home, I vowed to stay home until baby arrived.
