Backyard Campout

Marcus has been itching to go camping for about three years now. With our internship in California (living with what we could fit in our car for the summer) and living without our belongings last summer (things still packed and in storage) it has been a long time since we have had the opportunity to camp.

The pregnancy/newborn this summer has killed camping as a family for yet another summer. We do have our camping things though and Marcus decided to take Reagan for a backyard camp out. She, of course, was thrilled and talked about it for days beforehand.

Our campfire

What would camping be without smores? Surprisingly, Reagan and Ainsley didn't love the smores but preferred plain uncooked marshmallows.

Reagan was so excited to sleep in a tent. She kept telling us how tired she was and asking if it was time to go to bed yet.

Singing around the campfire. I love how Ainsley is watching Marcus and has her hand on the guitar. This girl adores her daddy.

Playing together

A happy Reagan peeking out of the tent

In the end Reagan lasted until 2:30 in the morning when she had to go potty and then just wanted Mommy. Marcus' body was aching so both ended up inside for the rest of the night. We were all tired from a late night and the kids slept in until 8am which is seriously a first for us.... EVER. I woke up giddy. It was so fun to sleep in a little and just made my day.

That is my kind of camping! I remember sleeping out on the tramp until about 2:30 or 3 - then it just got so cold. I love marshmallows too - I knew I liked those girls!
