This year the 4th was a little different than we expected. Originally we had planned to go home (Utah) for the 4th and run in the Freedom Festival 5k and hang out with family but with the new baby only weeks away those plans were quickly (and sadly) cancelled.
Instead we ended up having a great time in Minnesota. I felt yucky pretty much the whole day and would have been content staying home and watching fireworks on TV (tells you how done I am since the 4th is one of my favorite holidays). But with a husband and 2 kids, staying home was not an option. I forgot the camera until the fireworks so not much is documented but it was a great day.
Our ward had a breakfast and small program in the morning. Marcus played the guitar while the primary kids sang patriotic songs. Reagan practiced with him all week but when it came down to performing she would have nothing to do with it. It came out later that she is still worried about the "tie cutting" incident. Kind of a crack up.
The kids played at the playground and in the sand and Marcus was able to get a game of beach volleyball in and a round of Tug of War before I needed to go home and rest.
For dinner we hosted a BBQ with two other families from our ward. It was fun to let the kids play and just chat with other people. The weather was perfect too.
After the BBQ we headed to a huge soccer field to watch fireworks. Marcus and the kids played and played and played. Both of my kids were clobbered by Marcus but had a great time. The fireworks were good and the kids fell asleep on the way home. It ended up being a good day.

The Klingensmith clan. Jen is an amazing photographer. Look at her camera!!!
