The Blues

I have been fighting the blues this week. Many things have contributed: dreary rainy days, aches and pains from pregnancy not allowing me to do the things I really need/want to do, challenges with our home to name a few.

Yesterday, at my 28 week check up the doctor informed me that I am measuring 32 weeks (Seriously!!!!!) and that I was measuring 4 weeks ahead at my last appointment too (but no one mentioned this last time). If it is the same next time then they will need to have another ultra sound to make sure things are okay with me and the baby. Then this morning I get the call that my glucose test failed so tomorrow I head in for the 3 hour test to find out if I have gestational diabetes (discouraging but sure would explain a few things about this extremely difficult pregnancy).

As I said, I have been fighting the blues.

And then I checked the mailbox.... for the first time this week...

and found a whole different set of blues, the kind that my new baby boy will LOVE!

Needless to say, I have the BEST friends a girl could ask for. There are friends that come and go but every now and then you find friends that will always be there, especially when the times are the toughest. I was lucky enough to find 5 of them in one house 2 years before I was married. Seriously, life has never been the same. Even though we live in 5 different states today, it felt like we were in the same house again. Thanks girls for changing my blues today. Seriously, THANK YOU!!!!!

I really hope you don't have gestational diabetes. Good luck with your test tomorrow!

Good friends ARE hard to beat. They can save you on the dreariest of days. Truly a blessing.

Even though I tested negative for gestational on my glucose test, my doctor has been having me on a gestational diet/finger pricks 4x a day(at-home blood tests) my entire pregnancy because all my babies were around 9 lbs. Now granted, the finger pricks are not that fun, but it does help reassure me that I'm doing what I can to control the baby's accessive weight gain. It will be interesting to see what you find on your additional test. Keep us posted! You are in our prayers!

What's the update on the doctors visit? Are you ok?
