April Fool's Day 2014

We had such a fun day today!

This morning we tricked the kids with apple juice that was actually JELLO.  It was a blast to watch their reactions and have them remember that it was April Fool's Day.  I put some food coloring in their cereal bowls (the cereal bowls alone should have given a clue that something was up because we NEVER eat cold cereal) so when they poured their milk it turned a color.

Marcus and I put eyes on items in the fridge and a ton of apples and grapefruit in the snack drawer.  The kids loved that, well maybe not Will because he spent the day taking them all off.

For lunch I dug out a hole in an apple and stuck in a gummy worn, put a plastic bug in their sandwich, and gave them a box of nerds that contained carrots instead.  It was so much fun.

The kids and I took a little afternoon field trip to Grandma and Grandpa's house to fill their pillow cases with balloons and hide their pillows.  That was the most fun.

For dinner we had a strawberry pie that was really meatloaf with pink (beet stained) mashed potatoes on top.  Good times.  There were lots of smiles.  Soccer practice was cancelled for the afternoon which meant we could be at home together the entire evening with no commitments.  It was heaven.  The kids did homework and helped me cook.  It made me anxious for a kitchen that will be a better fit for congregating.  For now, it works and I am happy.

The snow that came through our valley this afternoon, not so happy about, but it has already melted and reminded me of why it is wonderful to be out of the great tundra of the north.  My seeds are happily sprouting by the window and I am thrilled it is spring.  General Conference is this weekend and that is the icing on the cake.  Can a weekend be more enjoyable?  This is one the entire family looks forward to.  I hope my children are always anxious to listen to a prophets voice.
