It has been quite a week. Yesterday we were able to witness the Angel Moroni being placed on the top of the new temple. It was originally scheduled for Tuesday but due to poor weather forecasted, was moved up a day. We are lucky we didn't miss it.
When we moved to Utah, Marcus and I made a deal that we would try to take advantage of all the awesome church opportunities available here that many people take for granted. This was one of those moments for us.
2:30 in the afternoon with little notice isn't ideal for our family. Paige is sleeping, Reagan is in school, and we have Piano on Mondays. BUT being a part of this event, priceless. I am so glad we woke our baby up and pulled Reagan out of school. It was an event that won't be forgotten soon. Reagan even asked if I would take her picture with the statue so she could add it to her journal. Of course!
We met Grandpa at the church building that I attended until I graduated high school. We walked over to the new temple grounds and had such a great time watching them lift the angel onto the top of the temple. It was quick and exciting. There was a special spirit in the air. I couldn't help but think of those pioneers so long ago that built this building. I am sure the crowd was much larger than we could see with our earthly eyes. As a family, we are sure hoping this temple is finished quickly. We would love to participate in the open house before heading to China.
What a week for my eight year old. Being able to attend the historic Women's meeting AND the placing of the Angel Moroni! I hope it is a week she will always remember.
