Tired

Is anyone else just plain old tired?! That has been one of the surprises of motherhood. I have experienced a new level of exhaustion.

Reagan is the energizer bunny in our house. She goes and goes and goes and goes. Will is following in her footsteps. He just doesn't require very much sleep. At barely two years old he is already flirting with no naps. This makes the days very long.

Ainsley is currently sick with a cough. It is the kind of sickness that allows her to do things in the day but really fires up at night. Awesome. I think I had 1 hour intervals of sleep last night sleeping on the floor next to her so I could hand her the occasional mint, water, prop her up better, or re-apply vicks. By morning time I was more exhausted than when I went to sleep 7 hours earlier.

Today I have said multiple prayers to help me have patience and not loose my temper with my kids. It is a busy day and I have a feeling tonight will repeat last night. Amazingly, I still love my job. I wouldn't have it any other way. But. I. am. exhausted.

And just a random story from this week:
Earlier this week the kids and I were wrestling on the floor. It started to get out of control. Reagan was sent to time out (for stomping on my stomach) and we were just sort of hanging out waiting for her return. Suddenly, Ainsley (who is hiding under a blanket on the couch) peaks out of the blanket and spits at me. Whaaaat! She totally managed to hit me in the face from 2 ft away. It caught me off guard and I started busting up laughing. She ducked back under the blanket snickering.

After I stopped laughing, I put her in time out explaining that we can't spit (sadly this isn't the first occurrence). She wanted to take her "baby" into time out with her. I said, "no toys." She explained to me that "baby" wasn't a toy, "I just sleep with her." I stayed strong with no. She then said in a very frustrated tone, "Well, she should be in timeout too because she spit at you also!" I started laughing again. She won. Baby joined her in time out.

Some days that girl cracks me up.

Ahh, I totally understand what you mean by tired. It is a different kind of tired than I have ever experienced before. I keep thinking I need to set up a mandatory nap time for mom:)
I sure miss you!

Funny that I checked your blog tonight and read THIS post, b/c that's pretty much exactly how I feel tonight! And consequently why I am sitting doing nothing else but catching up on everyone else's blogs. haha. :) I loved the spitting story. too cute.
