One day Reagan came upstairs wearing feather boa leg and arm warmers. It was hilarious. By the time I got the camera, the "leg warmers" had fallen off.
Ainsley and Will were wearing sun hats in the bike trailer and Reagan didn't want to be left out. It only lasted for about 2 minutes and then she decided a bike helmet was good enough. Again, it totally cracked me up.
After I trimmed back the raspberries for the year. They did awesome considering this was their first year. Too bad I don't have any room for them too grow out.
The tomatoes. I have been very excited to FINALLY get a good crop of tomatoes. This past week I watched a friend's kids and ran in the house for a couple of minutes. When I came back out, I found lots of picked green tomatoes. I can honestly say I was so upset. I had to take a moment to breathe so I didn't yell at the kids. They didn't know. But oh, I was so sad. I have the tomatoes all lined up in the window trying to see if they will ripen.
This years' garden.
We were gone during a crucial time for the garden and most of our plants didn't get enough water. Everything stopped flowering (even the day lilies) because of it. We didn't get a single pole bean. Fortunately, the plant is blooming now that it is cooling off. I am hoping it will keep producing until it freezes.
This is the first year that I have included flowers in the garden. I always thought that flowers were a waste of "food" space but we have loved the addition. These flowers attract humming birds and it has been awesome to see them come and go. The flowers have also brought butterflies. It has been great!
The pepper plants finally grew. Both hot peppers died but we do have green peppers.
As a kid I swore I would never have a garden. Our garden growing up was bigger than most people's backyard. We were assigned rows to weed each day. Now that I have grown up I find that I love gardening. Isn't it funny how work grows on you. I used to hate mowing the lawn and weeding and now I love to do both.
