Valentine's Day 2010

I love holidays. As time goes on, I realize more and more just how much fun they are to celebrate. I am pretty sure this trait comes from my dad. I have memories of green breakfasts, fun-filled 4th of July's, scaring the trick-or-treaters, and tons of Christmas decor.

This year I happened upon a couple of fun Valentine ideas. First the girls and I worked to make an advent calendar for Marcus and I. Marcus was actually excited about it. Because of the flu and an eye surgery, we were only able to complete half of the tasks but it was still fun to share a dance (haven't done that in years!), heart attack doors for each other, send each other notes, and go on a date.

We also found some miniature mailboxes in the dollar section at Target. I was hoping to decorate them with the girls but we just ran out of time. On Valentine's day the girls woke up to a little treat and a valentine note waiting in their mailbox. They were thrilled. Next year I hope to decorate them with the girls early in Feb and then leave little notes throughout the two weeks leading up to Valentine's day.

Of course we had to top it off with a special Valentine's breakfast (pumpkin pancakes) and dinner.

It was a super fun Valentine's Day for us.

Those are some really cute ideas. I might steal the advent calendar for next year.
