**Warning to those reading. Because this is our way of having a family journal, this post is mostly documentation for our family.
This past week Marcus had his 3rd eye surgery since we have been married.
This surgery is actually the second to try and correct some problems from a surgery he had 2 years ago. The first attempt at correction was this past fall and amazingly, I never posted about it. It was a fairly easy surgery and he felt great the next day; however, it didn't do enough to correct the low pressure he has been experiencing.
Marcus has iritis and steriod-induced glaucoma. He has suffered from high pressure for years and two years ago the pressure was in the 30's and would not come down so they put a tube in his eye to help with drainage and bring the eye pressure down to normal levels (between 7-15 roughly). High pressure results in permanent vision loss. The tube they put in has done its job too well and his pressure has been at a 0 for the last two years. When pressure gets below a 4, the eye can't see. Permanent damage isn't a problem but you still can't see.
The last surgery brought his pressure up to a 2. Better but not good enough. This time the surgery is working very well (they tied the tube off with stiches that will disolve in 7-8 weeks) and his pressure is up. Even though the surgery is working it is working to well. His pressure too high again and they are working through it with other eye drops to bring it to normal levels until the stiches disolve.
More frustrating for Marcus has been the recovery time. It has been a week and he is still not recovered. His eye is causing him a lot of pain. He is back at work but forced to take breaks throughout the day to rest his eye. After work his eye is finished which forces him down. In the end we hope that we just need to work through this 7-8 weeks until the stiches disolve and then he will have some vision restored.
Crossing and double crossing our fingers.
