House Update

We have to have our monthly house update. I seriously don't think we have ever worked as hard as we have in the last month. It seems like every moment is filled with some waiting task. We are very tired (and still have tons left to do) but it has been really good to work together and to combine inside work with outside work. Here is the progress:

The inside...

The primed family room

First coat of color in office/bedroom

first coat on half of hallway

Bathroom with paint and flooring (colors look funny with the lighting)

Bathroom and shower floor tile

Back bedroom primed

And the outside...

The outside still looks like a bomb went off so I had to post before pictures to compare.

This is the day we bought the house mostly to show the "bushes" on the right-hand side.

Same side looking from backyard to front yard

And today (thanks to one determined/strong husband)

Up close

This is the best picture I could find of before. This is the front of the house covered by all the "bushes".

And today

We had twelve stumps to remove and Marcus only has two left. The picture above shows the largest and then one small one way off on the left side of the picture.

a pile of stumps

And this is actually supposed to show our hard work even though the yard still looks horrible. We put the leftover sod next to the driveway. It was dirt all the way down so it really does look better.

This week we hope to finish the first coat on the painting and do most of the cutting in and we are also tilling a garden spot in the backyard.

I have to document one funny story. A couple of Saturdays ago Marcus started working on the first stump and it was a big one. He was working on it when a neighbor from 2 or 3 houses down came over with her lawn care worker. She wanted to let Marcus know that he could hire out this kind of work. She introduced her lawn worker and had him give Marcus a bid. Marcus was pretty much speechless but managed to thank her. We have died laughing over this. From the bid Marcus got we figure we have saved quite a bit of money.

what's the name of your color? I like it more than my green now. lol

Why did you take out that tree? Was it too close to the house?

WOW!!! I am so impressed at all you guys have been doing. I love that your neighbor hinted at having you hire out to do the yard work. :) There is satisfaction in working on your house but even more when you know you did it yourself!
I am so glad you don't have gestational diabetes. I hope you are feeling well. You don't have much time left!! Can't wait to hear any news.

Wow! Your house looks great. I love how open the front yard is. Does Marcus like doing yard work? Dave loves it. We just tilled a spot for our garden so now we need to plant, right away. I'm excited. Congratulations on not having diabetes. It sounds like things are improving.
