Reagan was very excited for her birthday party this year. She wanted a dress-up or princess party but the majority of her friends are 4 year old boys and we figured they wouldn't go for the whole "princess" gig. She decided on a space themed party and then last minute changed her mind and REALLY didn't want a space party. When I was little my mom threw me a baking birthday party and Reagan thought that sounded like fun so that is what we did.
Marcus is half kid and came up with this entrance into the downstairs. It was a huge hit.
I was totally paranoid some kid was going to hit their head on our watch and so this padding was installed.
For our baking theme we played Pin the Pepperoni on the Pizza, and musical chairs, and also had each child make their own personal size pizza and frost a cupcake. The kids seemed to have a great time.
Because we have lived in two wards here, plus have some neighborhood kids (thank goodness!), and had friends in town for Thanksgiving (double thank goodness) we had quite the crowd. I think there were 14 kids including Reagan and Ainsley. It was crazy but a lot of fun too.

What we learned from this party:
-double ovens are essential for 14 personal pizzas to be baked and ready somewhat close together
-Mirjam is super talented at keeping 14 kids entertained when it really counts (even when she is 8 months pregnant).
-We would not have survived without our co-hosts and assistants, Dani and Justin. 2 adults is not enough for that many kids:)
-Dani is very creative and fast when you need a Pin the Pepperoni on the Pizza game created the morning of the party (Thank you again!)
-picnics on the kitchen floor are way more exciting then eating at the table, plus there isn't any fighting over chairs.
-Ainlsey IS old enough to realize she missed out on something. (Thankfully Reagan is a pretty good sister and has allowed her to be a big part of everything including opening some of her gifts)
-Parties are fun. We want to celebrate more often but maybe in smaller doses:)

love your creativity brit!
Wow! You're brave hosting 14 little ones. When I saw the picture of the cardboard going down the stairway I had a flashback to my childhood. We would do that all the time!
