Days we will miss

What a week!

We started out with sick kids (meaning up in the night and little sleep). This was a spillover from the week before which just about did us in. Marcus is in the middle of budget at his work and has been SO busy and stressed (rarely a characteristic used to describe my husband).
Tuesday night I had to teach enrichment (40 min and to a total of 6 sisters including the entire RS Presidency). Wednesday our ward had a combined YW in Excellence and New Beginnings program and since I am the personal progress leader I had to speak and handle all of the awards for the last year. I also had a dentist appt so Marcus had to watch kiddos stressing him out because of work. We have also had random contractors at our house all week trying to get the basement ready for sheetrocking and the upstairs completely finished.

Friday night Marcus and I were exhausted; however, we FINALLY had our first date since moving to Minnesota. It was nothing big but we were very excited for some time away from our darling girls or truthfully, some time together. We went to Lowe's to pick out some basic lighting and get info on bath countertops and then to McDonalds for an ice cream cone. Very exciting huh? We LOVED it!!!

Saturday was another trip to Home Depot and the electrician at our house finishing the basement (Hooray). Right as we had put the girls down for afternoon naps and were getting ready for our own (did I mention Reagan was throwing up at 3am Friday morning and Ainsley was up FOUR times - teething we think) when the phone rang. It was a counselor in the Bishopric calling to see if I would pinch hit for a talk the following day. Apparently a speaker had cancelled or fallen through. And, could I make it 15-20 minutes! Naptime quickly dissolved as panic set in. Our Valentines Day was filled with tired parents and tired children. As soon as bedtime came Marcus and I set about working on our Sunday talks/lessons... oh wait, actually we put up some lights... and then did a little bit of work on our talks;). Let's just say we paid for that decision on Sunday morning.

When all was said and done, Sunday turned out well. My talk came together and Marcus had a great class in Sunday School. We even managed to get something thrown in the crockpot before church and make beautiful Play-dough jewelry with the girls. As I was telling my Dad about our week (looking for some sympathy) he quickly responded, "I really miss that time in our life." "It is sure hard when you are in and you can't wait to get out but they are good times." Needless to say, the pity party is over and I am trying to bask in the success we had this week. Even so, I am not crazy enough to wish for a repeat anytime soon:).

What a wise dad. It is so true. By the way, excellent jewelry! And the light is almost as cool as the man in the picture.
