Day 5 in China - Friday August 7th

Today is day five in China. The flight here was easy. Kids were fantastic. Airports were a little wild. We discovered Paige had a UTI as we flew to LA. We called the pediatrician who, thankfully, came through for the first time ever and called us in a prescription without being seen. Marcus left the airport and made it back about 30 minutes before boarding.
Just as we were getting ready to board the airline announced the Wi-Fi was broken on our plane. That was a pain but we had a few movies/games downloaded so worked out okay.
We were quite the site walking through the airport. Reminded me of a circus train. We were all pushing either a cart loaded with luggage or a stroller loaded with Paige and more luggage. People were definitely watching:). The guy directing the line for immigration at the airport counted us and ended by touching my stomach with his pointer finger as the last number.
Our ride to China was SCARY. I finally just had to go to sleep after gasping several times. Marcus said it was the scariest drivers he has ever had. Horns were blaring the entire time and we made it to our new home in record time.
China has been HARD. There are no other words. There have been lots of tears from everyone. A member of the branch gave wise advice and said that we are in the moment of impact. The impact is a hard one and to concentrate on getting food and water (who knew that could be so difficult!), praying and reading scriptures. Those things may occupy the entire day and that is okay. She assured me that the first week is the worst and that it will slowly get better. Since that day, several other people from the branch have echoed the same advice. For right now we are taking it one meal at a time and one day at a time.
I am thankful to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I don't know what I would do without that anchor. To know that no matter where I go, there will be members that are willing and anxious to help is a huge relief. To know that on Sunday, I can go to church and the doctrine/teachings will be the same brings more comfort that I can express.
We are here and right now China is kicking our tails BUT still here.
